Mission San Juan Bautista
Limited Edition Giclee print from an original watercolor painting
About this item
Named after Saint John the Baptist, mission San Juan Bautista is located in the town of San Juan Bautista, California. It was founded in 1797 by Spanish missionaries and is the 15th mission established in California.
I'll typically walk around a location before actually deciding the best view of the subject to be painted. When I arrived at the back of the mission, I found this overgrown stairway leading down the hill, so I went to the bottom of the hill and looked up to find this unique view of the mission that not many people have seen. This will be the first mission in a future series of California Mission paintings.
Mission San Juan Bautista is reproduced from an original watercolor painting by David J Rogers. Using today’s latest Giclee printing technology, each print is individually created with archival inks on watercolor paper to look and feel just like the original, and has a projected lifespan of 80 years if protected against direct sunlight. The artwork is individually printed on order, and is inspected, hand signed and numbered by the artist.
